Stop this waste
Local Tory candidate call for savings to be made in the
costs of the new Scottish Parliament building

WITH THE COST of the Scottish Parliament spiralling out of control, Gordon Conservatives have endorsed the demands of Conservative MSP’s that the
Scottish Executive “get a grip” on this huge waste of taxpayers’ money.

It is a national disgrace that a building predicted by Donald Dewar to cost £40 million could well end up costing 10 times that amount, paid for out of taxpayers’ money.

On top of that we have 129 MSP’s, when a reduction to 108 (in line with the provisions of the Scotland Act) would lead to a more efficient Parliament, better focussed on the issues that matter, like health, education and the state of our
roads. And if Scottish Tory proposals to halve the number of Ministers to 10 were also accepted, the combined saving of over £2m of taxpayers’ money every year could be redirected to provide more police on our streets, nurses in
our hospitals and teachers in our schools.

Labour, Lib-Dems and the SNP are all opposed to a reduction in the current size of the Parliament, with only the Tories in favour of cutting its running costs.

Only the Conservatives are on the side of the Scottish taxpayer.
